Ok i was looking at afr 165 heads and there are emission legal street heads and street/strip outlaw non emission legal heads. I want to get the non legal heads so i dont have to plug the holes in the back of the heads. But i was reading up on them, it says the outlaw heads have been drilled for the larger 1/2 head bolts. Im not to sure, about what that means so is that just a bigger bolt or am i going to have to do somthing different about the head bolt .

Thanks i really appericate it guys

1/2" bolts are used on 351's so you'll need the hardened step washers from ARP to use the mon your 302. You're probally better off getting the emmisions heads just to keep the EGR functioning.

I got the 1399 heads, which are the non-emission 165/stud/58cc heads. They are 1/2" bolt size, so you will have to get the bolt reducers. And if you plug off the back holes, the EGR won't be functioning anyway. I got the the non-emissions because I wasn't sure, but I didn't want a hole in the roof of my exhaust port.

The hole in the roof of the exhaust port does not affect power in any way. It would just limit your number of buyers if you were ever to sell them.
Plugging off the thermactor hole is not hard at all.
I would suggest getting the emissions heads.

Engine Might have to get a Dart block but don't want to and if I do, then 363 instead of 331. Thoughts on what I've already bought so far.......
