Question about Engine Compartment light on foxbody?

Did all foxbody Mustangs come with these or was this an option?

If it was an option, did the car still come equiped with the wiring under the hood so that this could be hooked up to the cars electrical system or is this an extra install?

How did/does this light system work? Is it switch operated where you would flip a switch on the housing to turn the light on or was this something that was activated when you popped open the hood?

Where under the hood was this gadget located? I saw a picture of it on 50resto's website and it looks like it has a plastic screw in which to attached this gadget to the underside of the hood.

Is it worth getting? 50resto sell the kit for $10.95.

It's located on the driverside under the hood (of course). It attaches to the wiring harness near the winshield wiper motor.

The way it works is quite simple. There is a metal rod which slides down a channel once the hood is opened. It then makes contact with the positive (I think) terminal to bridge the connection. If the rod gets dirty (and it will), you can pop it apart and clean the connections.
