Question about installing a chip

Heading off to the tuner tomorrow for a dyno tune. I stopped in today to pick up a chip with a basic tune to get from the house to the shop with the LMAF and 42's.

My question is this. I removed the computer and cleaned the J3 port. The tuner said to clean it till I see copper, an article I read said to clean it until the contacts are clean and shiney.

I can see the contacts are clean and shine and are silver. I can see some copper underneath. Do I need to scrape it all the way down to copper or is clean silver enough? Dont want to remove too much metal and have a poor contact.

clean it until the contacts are clean and shiney is what i did when i had a chip....

Exactly, DONT remove it down to the bar copper is what i was told, just have to clean the grease off of the contacts thats all. I just did the same exact thing your doing about a month ago.
