i have a 89 LX with a 302 with gt40 maifolds, t5 transmition, aluminum driveshaft, and american thunder flow master exhaust. i like the body style of the the 79-86 gt's. how much work and money would take to switch the engine and drivetrain over?

You could just switch bumpers, mouldings and the hood if you want. They are nearly identical otherwise.. except different interior.

I would just switch the front end and moldings. Go with the 85-86 moldings, I like those best. Not too many people go from the aero front to the 4 eye. I actually like the 4 eyed myself and want to get another one soon. But if you do switch the header panel you'll have to do a little rewiring.

The swapping over shouldn't really cost you anything, everything should bolt right into the over car. The most trouble you will have is rewiring everything for the efi. You plan on doing this yourself, right? or did you want to just pay someone?

Odd, I was thinking of getting an '84 GT front-end for my current '89 Mustang. I like the 4-eye look, especially the '84 GT since I used to have one.
