Got my auto meter water temp gauge installed last week and to test it out I hooked up my scan tool to check the engine coolant temp. It seems that the auto meter gauge lags behind the readout of the ECT sender by about 20-30 secs. I know the sender for my gauge is on the drivers of the intake and the ECT sender is on the passenger side but I would expect them to be right about the same temps. Wondering if anybody who has the tweecer or something and a water temp gauge can tell me what there's is doing and maybe why mine is doing this.

i would say the problem lies in the electrical sender for the gauge, thats why i always go with mechanical gauges when possible.

I also kinda chalk it up to the different locations and slight built in hysteresis in gauges (so they are not constantly fluctuating slightly). But I DONT know - that is just what I kinda think. Someone like Ph G or Don might have good ideas.

I never really had a problem with my stock water temp gauge. I know it reads N-o-r-m-a-l, But when I hit the high speed fan, the needle dropped quick, unlike my aftermarked gauge which takes awhile.
