I found a set of GT40 iron heads for sale. The guy that's selling them said the intake side is ported to a felpro 1250 gasket and the exhaust side has light porting. He wants $450 for them. Is this a good deal? Also, these heads use pedestal rockers correct? I want to put together a mild combo for my vert. I have a cobra intake and a 65 mm TB so far. I'm thinking about using an E303, Trick Flow stage 1, or possibly a custom cam. Would I better off with these heads or should I get a pair of thumpers?

I want to measure mine. It doesn't look that tall.

the thumpers would flow more, but will cost more also. show him 350 cash and see if he bites. at 450 dollars I would personally save up a couple hundred more and look for a set of used aluminum heads. thats just me though.

I can tell you the same thing as stykythn Thumpers will flow better and $450 is a little to steep for GT40s.

I picked up some GT40s of corrall for like 280 shipped. 450 is way steep, even with the porting.

I got a whole GT40 Explorer motor for about $450, shipped. I wouldn't pay more than $200 for those heads; maybe $250 because they're ported.

Do the heads have the stock springs or aftermarket ones? This will affect the price.

yeah I forgot to mention they do have upgraded springs. I don't recall what kind at the moment. Think I might just save and get some thumpers or save a little more and get some aluminum heads. Thanks for the input
