Quick Question on ECU

Question: How much can I expect to pay for a replacement ECU for my 94 GT.

Backstory: I have saved up some money and now am finally trying to take care of some problems that my GT has had. The car was never really putting down the horses I knew it should so it was time to go to work. I eliminated 2 problems (bad EGR valve and also the mass air sensor was bad) by replacing them today. Now it seems that the ECU is shot. I hope this is the last piece of work I need to do to keep it running for 4 more months. (Graduation gift ... new car)

A bad ECU is not a common occurrence. Furthermore, when they go, generally at least one system will be completely shot or there will be massive failures. If the car just doesnt quite have the power it should or something along those lines, the EEC is not the place to look IMHO.

If you're really wanting to check this, find a local guy with a 94 GT (you didnt note whether you have a stick or auto) and swap the puters. It will probably run the same.

If you need another puter, hit the classifieds. The reman'd units are $$.

Lastly, if you can post specifics about what the car does and when, along with any codes you generate and diagnostics you've done, we can try and get it running better for ya.

Yeah broken computer isnt gonna cause a loss of power. More like a loss of being able to start.

Well it seems the best thing to do is to take it in for a full inspection then, The guy helping me out knows a lot about cars, he even set my timing a bit advanced and let me race around for a day and it felt great. But he also suggested I buy a new EGR valve and come to find out the old one wasn't that bad. No disrespect to him because all his work has been just a favor for me but I dont want to buy another part i might not need, especially if its going to cost a lot. This friday I will try to sneak in a full auto inspection and see what Ford has to say about my engine and what not.
