Quick question on torquing lower manifold

I just bolted on my TFS R lower manifold to my 347. I followed the torque spec in stages (12lbs, 16lbs and 22lbs) My question is, how many times should it take for ALL the bolts to be 22 ft/lbs? I did the 22 ft/lb sequence 3 times and every bolt still needs a little more of a turn. I'm afraid i'm going to tight and i'm gonna fu ck my head threads up or snap the arp bolts. Should I keep going until every bolt is 22 ft/bs or what? Remember, i've gone through the 22 ft/lb sequence 3 times now and it still needs to be done again.

Fwiw I used motor oil on the bolts for a lubricant.

On my typhoon I had to torque the final setting about 4 times and it still did not feel right. I left it at that, since I did not want to F’up the lower manifold. Well 6 months later, I have a small oil leak at the rear, guess I have to do it again.
 
it takes a good 5+ times usually.

i do it until every bolt snaps, it is just sucking down a bit each time. some people tighten them once by hand and leave it. i just go with whats in the manual each time, havent had any problems so far :shrug:
 
If all goes my way and the moon is aligned right with the stars i'd like to have it in the car sunday.

Maybe tomorow I can put the flywheel, clutch and bellhousing on. If I can get that done, I think i'll be in good shape. I'm going away for the day on saturday with the GF and her family so thats an entire day that no progress will be made with the car.

Easy killer...it wasn't intended in harm. You would be surprised what some would do and a "newbie" that reads that...might just go try that :shrug:
 
The noise I heard on those 2 bolts was like a screeching sound kinda. Maybe there was some dirt/debris on the thread? Maybe I will take that bolt out and inspect it.
 
its not a problem, just seems hard to believe someone would nitpick that. to me the rest of my post makes it evident what im talking about. :shrug:

i mean, when i am installing my given intake on my current vehicle, i prefer to take the torque wrench with 3/8" adapter and 1/2" socket to turn the bolts clockwise in a tightening motion. when each of the 8 bolts has consecutively engaged the torque wrench to click at the strike of 24 pounds, i consider it complete and cease the tightening session.

possiblity its doing that from bottoming out on the intake? my old cobra intake made some noises from the bolt turning on the aluminum. :shrug:

I'm going away today with the GF and her family so no progress will be made. Hopefully tomorrow! The distributer is being a bitch and not wanting to go all the way in. The flywheel had to be hit with a block of wood and a hammer to go in. I tq'd it to about 70 ft/lbs best I could before the motor started spinning. Used blue loctite on the bolts and the pp bolts like you said. Heres were i'm at:
 
I also usually go back after running it for a few weeks and pull the upper and go through and tighten everything back up again. Mine seem to loosen up after several heat cycles.
