Driving home on the highway at about 1:30am I rolled by him but didn't get a look so I just continued cruisin at about 80. About 2 miles up the highway he gaind ground and I followed him through traffic where we both stepped on it and I was surprised because he wasn't pulling like I though he would.

So we hit it a few more times and finallt get some better room to run em. This time we had the lanes right next to eachother. I honked the horn 3 times and went and I think he had an auto because he had a bad reaction time or something. But I had about a carlength on him from 70 to about 120 and then he finally pulled a couple of cars on me. I mean it was like when I shifted into 4th he gained 1mph on me and slowely started to catch up and pass me.

Needles to say I though it was gonna be worse.

Dan.

What mods do you have? Does anyone know how much rwhp a 99GT with bolt on's has?

Not bad. With just an X pipe and MAC mufflers, I ran a 13.9@100.4 in my 2000 GT 5-speed. What have you done?

Most dyno in the upper 220 lower 230 range stock and usually run LOW LOW 14's at 98-99mph.

I just have catback exhaust. Must be the SLP, the name alone must be about 30 hp.

It was funny because, we were totally even untill the dreded stock intake started to choke me right at 4500-5000 on the top of 4th. Then he started to pull. From Id say 115 to 130 is when he pulled.

I forgot how empty the highways are at night so we just kept on goin.

yea, most are low 14 second cars, with the avarage driver, some dip into the high mid 13's stock..

Your avarage 94-95 with bolt ons should be about even with a stock 99-03GT.
My 01 GT ( automatic) ran a 14.6@97 with as 2.4 60'.... capable of a high 13 but i suck at driving. My 94 with full bolt ons ran a 15.3@92 2.3 60'

I think the 99+ autos dyno around 210rwhp or so. its the 5 speeds that dyno in the upper 220's

Oink, what was wrong with your 94 at that time. I know its amazing now but when I went to the track even with a 40mph headwind I got a 15.3@88. At a completely different track before the exhaust was on I trapt a 90 and 91 mph on my best runs. What was wrong with your car?

Edit-spelling agai,n and I forgot that you have an auto.

Look at sig...it took all those mods and a couple I haven't listed to get within a tenth of my 2000 GT I had...I know I have a 93 but its pretty similar...

Assuming perfect conditions, identical drivers, etc, etc, etc... the 99 GT should have been faster. But there are many factors in play in a street encounter, and you can lose with a 100 horsepower advantage.

And BTW, if it took all those mods to get a '93 LX within a tenth of the 2000 GT, then you need to learn how to drive the 93 better .

The 99 gt definately beat me but I was surprised that I got a jump off the start. Then he just slowely realed me in. It felt like slo motion.

And 5sp GT, your running just a bolt on 93 correct. What did you run stock with your 5.0, I meen I though they ran mid to high 14's and with your mods you should be at least in the high 13's.

Numbles, I ran a 14.6 at 94mph in my dad's bone stock (it did have bumped timing and the air silencer removed) '91GT. With nothing more than an offroad X pipe, borla mufflers, pulleys, 3.55's, and MT sportsman pro tires he ran a 13.6 at 99.99mph.

wait, dont you live in illinois?? it was friggin snowing from like 8pm til god knows when. tried taking my stang out at about 11pm and i didnt even get to the end of the block when i turned around cause it took about 10 min.

personally i think he shoulda won cause the 99+ are much faster than ours stock. yours might sound good but catback alone w/ a 5spd isnt gonna cut it unless he has a torn up tranny already.

I have raced my dad's 2000 GT 5 speed a ton of times and this is what always happens.

Due to my tires & gears I almost always get a jump off the line. I put about 1-1.5 car lengths until I shift into 3rd. By the time I have to shift into 4th he is almost exactly next to me. Since I have to shift into 4th he gains another couple feet and we cross the line at the same time.

His is stock except for a K&N filter & no silencer and my mods are in my sig. The 99+ GT's definitely have a slightly better top end than a stock H/C/I 5.0 , but they also dont as much torque down low.

The 99+ 5 speeds while not having horribly aggressive gearing are intelligently geared for stock hp levels. He can wind out 3rd and not have to shift into 4th which saves at least a tenth or two over me having to shift into 4th a couple hundred feet before the traps. He put down 234hp/282tq on the exact same dyno I put down 221hp/288tq, but his torque curve was definitely not as fat down low.

Yeah hazmat, I live in chicago (Depaul University) but if your in wheaton cruisin around, Im most definately there on weekends.

Im trying to find out who the person was though. Hazmat might be able to help. We were cruisin on 88 coming from chicago and he got off at highland in downers grove. I was then on rousevelt heading back to chicago from the wheaton trian station(Friend jill had to pick up her car because she missed the train downtown.)And I saw him again.

He must have gotten off because we were cruisen at over 100 for at least 10 minutes, no tellin if cops were tryin to catch up. But yeah, anyone know anyone in a red 99 gt that lives in illinois. around wheaton. I want a remach when I can find a used edelbroch intake. These new classifieds suck, noone will email me back.

EDIT:Hazmat, I just reread what you said and no, there was definately no snow on the highway. The highways were dry. Trust me, my posi is slowly slipping and the one wheel peel can be seen if I floor it at any speed in the snow.

The 93 weighs a little over 3450 with me in it...I'm 6'3" 220 pounds...besides me being a major factor that seems kinda heavy for an lx hatch...

The 2000 runs a 13.7...and the 5.0 runs 13.8...and I got the 5.0 on street tires down to a 1.98 60ft...and plain ole street tires...and I got the 4.6 to a 2.1 60ft...

Hairy Canary don't worry I can definatly drive the 5.0...just needs a tune up I guess

Why would I shift one slower...lol...the trans on both of them feel very similar...to me.

That seems likely. Even at the local track, which is unprepped and tends to give crappy ET's, it wouldn't take that many mods to a 5.0 fox to see 13.7. My brother did it with a 90 LX hatch with a lot fewer mods and on H-rated street tires (can you say 2.2 60' ) and ran consistent 13.7's.

Good times from your brother...I was pretty disapointed about the times...I thought I was going to rip the shifter off the trans I was trying so hard...lol...

Its got a 138k with no oil leaks...so I'm just ...oh well...

Off topic: I got your little "walkthrough" on your H/C/I swap on my Favorites Page... ...always looking at it thinking one day I'm going to do that
