Since you just switched to a 9" not to long ago, did your car slow down in the 1/4 mile. I just put a 9" in mine. I am hopeing to break into the 12s this summer( i said that last year, but i wasnt able to go once.) My current best so far is a 13.4 with 2.2 60'.

Assuming the gear ratio is the same and nothing was wrong with the 8... the 9 WILL make your car slower NOT faster. It weighs more and introduces more parasitic loss.

I presume you are running a 67 based on your user name? What size tire do you have there? What is the backspace on the rim?

Edbert is correct. That is why you are seeing more 8" rears at the road courses. The drag stuff week end and week out (at this point in time) will require a 9".

i'm not quite sure if it did or not because when i installed the 9" i also had a different carb on (750dp).
but my times did change from a 8.0 to 8.2's - but i'm hoping it was just the carb that my times have changed.
i put back on my 650 dp and will be going to the track soon and hopefully hitting 8.0's again on street tires.

the 31 spline 9" is one heavy mother-then with disc brakes and calipers and new big a$$ rims and tires i'm still happy hitting 8.2's.

Well hot darn. My mustang just has a 3 speed and an ol' 351 Cleveland. I hear it's got one of them there CD players, but it looks like the stock stereo is still in the dash.

Wanna race? Track style of course, I'm 100% against street racing my classic. While I trust myself, I don't trust the other people out there, and I don't need to endanger anyone else.
