Just read an article about the speed GT series - Corvette vs. Viper vs. macDaddy Caddy vs. Audi R6. All have about the same HP, and weigh within 200 lbs. of each other (3000-3200). The Corvette, Viper and Caddy all hit 60 mph in the low 4/high 3 sec range; the Audi hits 60 in 2.7 secs. Gotta love AWD for those standing starts.

I don't want to bum the guy out but I wouldn't say he "beat a Viper" it sounds like he had a much better reaction time but he said himself that he was on it in 2nd gear then backed out of it. I'm sure that was about a second before the Dodge was about to blow by him big time.
On a track, with a finish line (at a resonable distance, not 100 ft away) the viper would have probably put more then a few car lengths on him.
I watched one clean up on a whole mess of cars last Friday night at our track.
Then he went against a nasty sounding 67 Fastback and just got completely spanked.
Give me the fastback any day of the week.
As far as the bike to car deal, I used to put all sorts of exotics in my rear view on my GSXR, then I remember lining up next to this 68 Camero. When he dropped the hammer, his car was so loud I couldn't even hear my bike to shift it at the right time, he left me like I was on a scooter!
It's alway's gonna happen, there's alway's someone faster.
