Hello everybody I,m new here and maybe somebody might be able to help me out with a question?
What are the phsyical differences between a 75 8" rear end and a 80 8" rear end. Can the gear set from a 75 swap into a 80?

:welcome: to :SNSign:

They should be interchangable, both being the same size ring gear. There wouldn't be any differences that I know of, in regard to the differential or ring and pinion. What car are you using this in, if you don't mind me asking? It might be a worthwhile swap to an 8.8 inch rear if this is going into a Fox based car.

I actually have a 78 8.8 with posi. what I need to know is if all the mounting points are the same as a early 90's 8.8 or are there some significant differences?

Ohhhhh, I thought you were referring to the Ford 8 inch, which is an entirely different rear than the 8.8 inch. It depends what it came out of, really. The Fox chassis debuted in 78, with the Zephyr and Fairmont, so those would be the only 78 models that would have the proper mounting points on the axle housing.
