Rear end??

I just traded my 89 camaro for an 89 mustang. originally a 4cyl, its got a 302 out of an 83 police intercepter with 70k. It has the 4cyl rear end i want to swap that out but i dont know what rear end should i look into?

look for an 8.8 out of an original 5.0 mustang

I think you could get 3.08 rear gears optional... not sure.. but alot of them had 2.73.. if possible get a rear end that has a good set of gears in it

see if you can find a 87-88 turbo coupe rearend at your local junk yard. they have rear disk brakes. thats what i have on mine and love it.

thanks that would be wise for me to do if i can find one, are those still 4 lug?

Don't get a hold of a CHEAP one!!! This is your rear end your talking about, you break that, you're ****ed...

Get a 5.0 Mustang magazine and look towards the back and order the rear end from that. New parts and can't beat em.

Just remember that the 87-88 Turbo coupe rear end is 3/4" wider than a Mustang.
Don't know what wheels and tires your using.

cheap 8.8's work just fine. I got one for 300 canadian it had 3.73 gears in it. It has lasted 6 years to nitrous launch's at the strip. I am just now having to rebuild the traction loc. Well that and i had to install a used axle shaft cuz I snapped one but I was lifting my front tire at the track before it happened.
