I just put 245/50/16 Nitto 555r’s in the rear of my stang :D they’re rubbing on the inner fender well on bumps. Can I remove the inner fender well? Or is my suspension the issue?

Thanks

Is it lowered? My tires would rub but mine was lowered. The previous owner had cut the springs and cut too much off.I bought the Eibach pro kit and the do not rub anymore.I had 235/55/17's on it though,I'm not sure what your overall height was.I would guess worn out springs and or isolators.

Standard pony rims (sorry forgot that) ... this may be a stupid question but how can I tell if it’s lowered? I haven’t lowered it but the pervious owner may have. Can I measure the coils length or something?

Thanks

Ponys shouldnt be rubbing with 245's but whatever the issue (backspacing etc) roll ur fender lips easiest way to elimiate the problem but id def get the susp checked out

Might I suggest the use of a big f@$^ing hammer. just gently massage the area with the witness marks (where you can see the tire was rubbing) with the hammer. some times you can get masking tape to stick to it (where you just beat on it) put the tape on it and drive (white spray paint will work also). do whatever causes the rubbing and repeat the process, on the new witness mark if it still rubs. hope this made sense chris

Something's wrong here.

Are you positive it's the inner fender, not the exhaust or quad shock? You should definitely rub those before you get to the inner fender IMO.

I agree, I believe the first thing to rub would be the quad shock! And if I remember right you can flip them the opposite direction and gain just a little tire clearance.

Yep it’s the inner fender well I can see where is cleaned the dirt and paint off. After searching the forum I thought it odd too, so is it my suspension? Or just a difference in the convertible wells and I need to remove / reshape?

I would say it's obvious your cars been lowered over the tire. Maybe your shock is gone. I had a slammed civic(i know I know a civic) and for 2 years it was fine. Then one day it rubbed and I was perplexed, until i noticed the shock was completly shot.

I've used the hammer method as well. Works well. Just dont' do it if you're pissed off, you may smack your fender and have some new custom body work :p
