recommended tires

BFG KDWS aren't bad, not too noisy, but only ~6K on them so far. Stock Gatorbacks weren't bad, just get really noisy as they wear, IMHO.

FWIW, the KDWS tires are OK for winter traction, but no snow tire. Far better than the KDW, but that's not saying much (KDW sucks in even an inch). If I buy tires for winter again, I'd just buy a snow tire and the KDW's. If you drive all year but don't see more than a couple inches of snow/plowed roads, the KDWS will be good. If you ever might need to navigate a foot or more, snow tires. If you never see snow, KDW's. Nothing to say about how other brands compare.

I've heard some cons of pirelli's, that they tend to heat up so much to the point where they begin to liquify driving at high speeds. Is this true or just some bs?

Liquify at high speeds???

When i had pirelli's i made a 3 hour drive on the interstate traveling at 90-100MPH the entire time. When i stopped, my tires were still tires.

You get what you pay for with tires. I love my Bridgestone Potenza S-03's. Sure there are cheaper tires out there, but i forget how much I paid for them when i'm driving in a driving rainstorm and they stick to the road like it's warm and sunny outside. I just love these tires. They stick to anything.
