Hi guys,

I have a 67 mustang with a c4. I'm trying to remove the driveshaft and am about ready to saw the damn thing off.

I've removed the ubolts. The shop manual says I simply slide the drive shaft forward, drop it, and pull it back.

This all makes sense in my head but I push the shaft forward as far as it will go and its not enough. The spider won't clear the pinion flange. The most I can move the shaft forward is about 1/2 inch. I need about a full inch or a little more.

Any ideas?

just a thought .... try jacking the rear up to unload the rear springs and drop the axle down .... perhaps the increased arc will provide enough additional movement ..... don't know, but at least the theory sounds good .... the manual says to raise the car which implies that the rear suspension drops .... but that free-play you noted sounds "tight" ..... good luck ....
