So I replaced my clutch cable thinking it had ripped or something. I turned on the car and it wouldnt let me disengage the clutch and let me put it in gear. It has a steeda quadrant and everything seems fine. The pedal feels really soft though. What could had happen? This is on the 1991.

Did you pull the slack out of the cable? Can you have someone push the pedal while you look into the inspection hole (where the fork goes into the bell)? You can try to ensure the TOB is moving along its full path.

If it's not the cable, I'd surmise your PP's diaphragm went south (PP = pressure plate. It's relatively rare for a pressure plate to break like this however).

There is no slack in there what so ever, there wasnt even enough room for the cable 2 go in but I got it in there. I also was thinking that the pp took a dump.... Think that the car sitting for 7 years could have had something 2 do with it?

Sitting for that long definitely could have had something to do with it. If you know your quadrant is ok, the cable is ok, and the TOB is moving along its full range, you can almost deduce that the pressure plate itself broke.

Since it's so easy, you should be able to manhandle the fork forward and it will go easily (because we think the PP broke). If the fork is really tough to move, then go back and recheck the clutch cable, quadrant, etc.

But the fork is hard 2 move by hand. And I had the clutch pedal pressed in and the fork did move almost 2 the point touching the end of the tranny. It was about 1/2 inch alway from touching it

Are you really sure about the cable? I've lost them on cars and bikes and almost always, I get a pop and then there is more freeplay than before. This lasts a day until the cable completely tears loose and I have to replace it.

I'd disconnect the cable at both ends and run it though the sheath to its limit each way. Be sure the cable slides smooth, isnt chafed and that the ferrules are in good condition.

I've never seen a couple of the fingers break on a PP but it certainly could happen, esp given the heat, forced induction, lack of drive time in recent years and other factors.

Oh yeah forgot 2 mention. The 1st time I started the car when I thought I had just ripped the cable there was a small chatter sound that came from the tranny. I just thought it was the fork that was loose. But it only did it once and that was it.

weird thing we put a new tranny in my buddys 96 gt and the clutch would not disengage for some reason so we decided to drive it around without the clutch and for some reason after a little while it just started working out of the blue... does anyone have any clue what that could have been?

Is it possible for the Fork Pivot ball to break and not let me disengage the clutch?

I think it's more likely that the retention tangs on the fork (holding it to the ball) could break or bend to the point of causing issues. Remove the inspection cover and watch the fork pivot as someone depressed the clutch pedal.

Well I took the h pipe of to give some room to look into the fork. Well I reached my hand in there and I pulled of a piece of the clutch. So yeah Its a sure thing I need a clutch :(

Well I took the clutch out and the Pressure Plate were the TOB pushes on half the teeth were bent. Also there was clutch particals everywere. I took the PP of and the clutch that faces the PP was missing everysingle pad and had fallen of!

I haven't seen a clutch get destroyed like that at non-high-RPMs. That's nuts.

Atleast you know what the issue was. :rlaugh:
