91 LX when shifting into reverse, clutch pedal to the floor...at a dead stop it grinds...if I shift out and back into reverse no grind at all. None of the other gears do it except reverse.

Time for a rebuild?

Thanks :SNSign:

It's normal. Most folks will hit a forward (synchronized) gear to slow the cluster down before going into R.

Actually if any of you still have your owners manual i believe in it it tells you to do that before you shift into reverse. Stop shift to first then shift to reverse. Since reverse doesn't have a syncro it is more prone to grinding.

All depends on where you have your clutch (cable) adjusted also... I found a happy medium by taking a bit more slack out of the cable, with the clutch grabbing somewhat higher on the pedal (but I never race, if you do this option definitly isn't for you!)

I'll disagree here. It comes down to the cut of the reverse gear IMHO (if one doesnt have a blocker on reverse like Pacecar noted).
