Right Torque Converter

I picked up a 2800 Stall converter on EBay.With the 350 gears and engine in my signiture will I be ok on the street or will the gears be too high and cause the converter to slip. I have no experience with high stall converters. Any body want to guess FWHP and ET in 1/4.

What if I went to 325 gears.

I had a high stall in my car at first and hated it on the street. It uses way too much gas because you must rev. always to get it moving. I switched back to a 2800 stall and like it a whole lot better. One problem I have encountered at the track is if I rev it passed 2500 rpm it will over power my brakes and cause my car to lurch forward which leads me to red light. Trade-offs?

my 2500 rpm Hughes converter for my new built AOD just arrived. Hope it'll be enough. I don't even know what gears I have lol.

i dont think 3.25 would be enough gear.

is this a used converter from ebay? If so, id fill it with fluid and drain it back out, see if any shavings come out of it.

I have a 2500-2800 stall converter and 3.50 gears and if anything it is too tight. If it is going to be driven on the street a lot, the key is to get a converter that has a stall at or below your highway cruise rpm. Given the size of your tires and your gears, you'll be around 2900 at 65 mph. Your converter should be perfect. I'm at 3000 at 65 mph and my rear tires are 25.7 inches.

wouldnt that cause it to slip at highway cruise???

I checked tire size and I don't think I can get more than a 25.6" tire under the fenders. So if the RPMS get below 2800 will will the converter slip.

I was just going to post a similar question on changing my gears to 3:25s from 3:55 with a 2400 stall and wondering about any adverse effects. I'm running 26.4" dia tires. I'm doing this for long distance cruising.
