Last summer I put on a pair of bfg drag radials on my 89gt. I love the tire and desperately needed the hookup, but the tires stick out about 1 inch from the flares. I also have a 1 inch drop that is not helping and there is some serious rubbing on the tires. I have done alot of research and the only company that sells a wider flare for a fox body is maier racing........for the price of 1000 for the set! I would love to widen the look, but this is just too much. Does anyone know of any solutions? How much does a mini tubb cost and is that worth the trouble. Also, my backspacing is 4 7/8's, Can I eliminate the prob with deeper wheels, or is that about the limit the car can do without mods. Thanks for any suggestions

I thought about that, but I would like to stay away from taking all of the movement out of the already tightened up rear suspension. I would prefer to have the body fit over the tires somehow.....without breaking the bank. Has anyone fit 11" of rubber under a stock fox?

The quad shocks and/or exhaust will be the first limitation...after which the inner fender is. You should be running 5-5.5" BS with 8" wheels, once you get up around 6.5" you will have to do some massaging of the inner fenders. You may still have to roll the fenderlips as that's a tall/wide tire (10" wide BTW).

I have been looking around but I cannot seem to find a definate answer to exactly how much backspacing is possible with the stock suspension?

You really have NO freakin idea of what backspacing is.

it has NOTHING to do with the suspension and EVERYTHING to do with the wheel. That may or may not be the correct size BS for the wheels, but since you never posted any specs beyond the BS for the wheels, no one here can give you in intellegent answer.

Allow me to clarify so you can give me an intelligent answer then.......I was under the impression that too much backspacing will start to interfere with your suspension causing you to alter your setup (coilovers) to make the room needed. But obviously I am mistaken as like you said "bs has nothing to do with suspension" so please educate me on possible solutions. My current setup is 15x8's on the rear with 4 7/8ths backspacing made by centerline. If more bs is possible without too much hassle then that may be my best route. What do you think?
