Rims & Tire Q's

Okay I am looking to buy some deep dish wheels for my 98 gt and I am not looking to buy tires yet, and I was wondering will my 17 tires fit on a deep dish rim. I don't really want to buy tires, so if anyone can help that would be great.

Are they 245's? Or the stock 17x8 Tires you have on? If so then no. You would need atleast 275/40 tires

The tires are 245/45 r17

Your definatly going to need new tires. Just keep the original tires and rims
for when you go to sell the car.

Look around at places that sell used tires. You could probably get a set that will last you until you buy all new tires for not much cash. If you have the cash to get new tires right now, then buy some new tires for those rims.

Also, since you'll begoing deep in the back.. Are you buying a set of 4 rims or just the rears? If you're buying a staggered set of 4 that has a 9" front rim then I'd buy 4 new tires. The 245's will fit on the 9" but it will look stretched and really leave the rim edges exposed.

A 245 tire is just fine on a 9" wheel. In fact, I think it looks slightly more correct than the factory 8" wheel. The sidewall is streight, more like it should be. Look at lower profile BMW wheel and tire combinations to see what a tire looks like mounted to the correct width wheel. The origional ford 8" wheel is toward the narrow side of the range.
Yes, compared to other mustangs, a 245 on a 9" wheel will look slightly small and leaves the rim slightly exposed, but it is perfectly fine.

the moment you kiss a curb you're going to regret running 245s on a 9 inch wheel. If you don't have the money to do it right, why do it?
