Rod knocking.? Cam tensioner.? HELP, I have a lot of questions...

what i meant by that was, have you checked to make sure that no plug gaps have been closed. to see if a piston came up & hit the bottom of a spark plug

You know it's surprising how often this happens. We have seen quite a few guys with stock bottom ends slap the ground strap with a piston after hitting the rev limiter. These guys had their rev limiter set higher than normal (6200-6400). I think these factory CP rods are prone to stretch at higher RPM's. On a few, the piston hit hard enough to push the ground strap into the porcelain insulator, breaking the insulator.

well the camera i was using doesnt give you the full effect of the sound. trust me i swear its louder then that. like a metal on metal contact. im gonna change out my tensioners out tomorrow to see if thats the case. ill let you know how it turns out. what threw me off was that the tapping doesnt start till the car gets warm.

Ok, Changed both tensioner and arm's. Car is STILL knocking up hell. You can hear the noise form underneath LOUD. You can tell it is coming from somewhere on the D/S because I can squat down beside the tire on the D/S and it is LOUD, however I can squat down beside the P/S tire and its not very loud at all. So its concentrated to the D/S. But from underneath it sounds like it is just simply coming from the crank....? Mother F***er !!!>>??? I'm exhausted. I have never in my life had so much trouble pin pointing a noise. I can usually pick em' right out, oh well. Any suggestions..?

or if you don't wanna go that route yet, at least take the heads off & check for any damage there

Are you certain it is not something in the clutch? Sometimes people mistake a throw out bearing clunking around for a lower end knock, and a bad throw out bearing can sound a lot like a lower end noise sometimes.

Do you have the means to check your crankshaft endplay? Do you have auto or stick? If auto, stock converter?

Stick shift... Mos def not a throw out bearing. Maybe a lifter or rocker being that it is more concentrated to the D/S, but who really knows..? It could be anything... I'm leaning towards a low millage replacement motor and the hell with expensive guess work What do you fellas say..?

Not the clutch...However it was intriguing enough that I went and pulled the fork cover and took a look and a listen, not it. =) I can't tell if it is in the head or the bottom end. I've listened to it so much that now it all just runs together. F***k it, I'm pullin' the rear end cover next, hahaha.

if it's not your DD, yank the motor & check it out from top to bottom
