Rolling inner fender lip

I pretty much have the same setup with 255/40 up front on my 91. I took an adjustable pair of pliers and used a small block of wood, with a rag underneath it carefully sort of pinched the inner lip. The wood block on the outside of the fender with rag or towel between the wood and the paint, adjust the pliers so the one side is on the wood and the other is on the lip. I've heard you can tap them with a ball-peen hammer if your careful, or even try a wood dowel and roll up over your tire to push the lip in. So people take their inner fender liners out for extra clearance. After installing my X2 ball joints it lowered the front almost an 1/4", and after my last road race event I noticed that on my passenger side I now have some holes in the inner fender liner.
