Good morning everyone! I'm about to buy another Mustang, its a 93 notchback and has some mods already. The previous owner did swap a drivetrain from a 88 so the car is speed density but has everything there to convert back to mass air. The mods are the following..

unequal shorties
o/r H
Cat-back
3.55's
subframes

I've been out of Mustangs for awhile now and see the novi 1000's and SC v3's are pretty cheap through summit. My question is what is the best bang for the buck? The novi is 1500 bucks which is cheap but I can do H/C/I for less and still have a quick car. So if you were me and had a couple grand to dump into the car right away what would you buy? I'm wanting somthing that is daily driveable but is still capable of 12's.

H/C/I. Explorer top end and a tfs cam will get you 12s. Boost on top of that later will net you over 400hp.

Either mod is worth almost 300rwhp. You want a nice whine from under the hood, or a cammed engine and a rumbling exhaust? That's the question.

You've been around long enough to know better than to double post here and in tech. Since you've already gotten a couple of replies here and because its a more opinion and less tech based answer, I've removed your post in the Tech forum.

My vote is H/C/I. If you say your car is blown and get outrun by n/a cars, you're going to feel bad about your car. Not to mention, others are going to be less than impressed by the performance of your car if it's blown. If you're n/a and you are as quick or quicker than the blown car would be, others will be more impressed. A lot of people didn't believe that my car wasn't using nitrous when it was just an n/a 302. I outran at least 3 blown 5.0s. AFR 165, ed curtis cam, and ported cobra intake w/ a race weight of a little over 3100 lbs.

Yea my bad I posted there first by accident!

The reason I'm asking is I know I can do H/C/I and have plenty left over for suspension mods. Or I could just get the blower kit and within a couple hours have a 12 second car. The blower option is tempting because my last 4 cars have been force inducted. I know one thing I'll miss the whine of my Lightning's eaton which is why I'm leaning towards the blower. I guess my feeling is if I do H/C/I why not replace the block while I'm in there? Hard to decide which is why I wanted some opinions from everyone!

i say head cam intake because it would be a good base for a blower and when installing you can inspect the motor and replace some gaskets and old parts. it would suck to get a car and put a blower on it to just blow a head gasket or the motor itself. i also like the idea if funds are avalible over time to drive it how it is and build another motor from the ground up on an engine stand, then when your done drop a fresh built motor in and if you like blowers build it for high boost.

replace the block over a H/C/I combo? Nonsense. If you're going to go that far, then build a 347 with the right combo and push over 400 n/a... You can still use the stock block, though.

If you're thinking aftermarket block, you're talking about a huge investment. $2000 for the block itself is just the beginning.

One of the mags did an article on this subject several years ago. HCI vs. a 5-6 pound blower. The gist of it was that either one nets you about the same gains, but the combination of the two is more than either one together. Engine + HCI = 2. Engine + blower = 2. But 2 + 2 = 5.

What do you guys think a H/C/I 302 + a S/C @ 6-7 psi would put down? I'm thinking it could top 400 pretty easily.
