ive got an 02 s281, and for some reason the top of the side scoops never stay on, ive tried 2 layers of double sided tape, one layer of double sided tape, nothing seams to work, ive even brought it to a body shop and 2 weeks later theres pealed off 2. any idea on how to make this work, also i am putting the 3 screws back in thats the only side that stays stuck, its the top that always peals off.

Urethane adhesive is about the only thing that will work. Any body shop should have it, if they're decent they will glue it up for free, for good customer service. Be advised once the part is glued on, it will not come off, short of cutting through the adhesive with wire, or breaking the part!

i wouldnt recomend doing that, becase at some point the parts are going to have to come off for repaint.
the Saleen method is:
as far as the proper way to do it, i talked to a friend at saleen, and there manuel says, clean the area with wax/grease remover, aply tape to scoop, then the key is to apply an activator to the 3m tape, im not sure where you get the activator tho mabey a paint store, then stick them on, its a 2 man job, one guy holds it about a 1/4 from the car, while another starts the top and bottom screw then you stick it on, i guess the key is the activator, ive used activator before on some corvette parts but its come with the tape and the product, ive never seen the activator for sale by its self, im going to try a local paint store tommorw, but i put them back on for now, came out pretty good.

I have limited experience with the 3M tape. My body guy has been in the business for over 20 years, and installed thousands of new parts, used parts, body kits etc. In his opinion, the 3M tape rarely works. That is why Saleen used screws to hold on their Fox body kits. Next to a physical fastener, urethane adhesive is the best way to go. Sometimes a new part will make the difference. If your scoop is slightly warped, not amount of 3M tape is going to make it stay on. A new scoop, then painted and try the 3M again?! Good luck with that. Use the urethane and be done with it, once and for all.

i see what your saying as far as the fitment, most saleen stuff dosent have the greatest fitment, there parts usually require alot of prep work, but with the urthane parts that happens, i would go with the adhesive but if the part ever has to come off its going to be runied and some of this stuff is hard to get, its like pulling teath to get things so i just dont want to ruin a part and not be able to get another one, i would say your right that they wont come off and thed absoulty be flush.

Old Saleen gunkie say... Superglue.... I know I know your thinking WHAT! But yep the lower skirts kept pulling away just as you describe and another Saleen guru said "Superglue" well can't hurt I thought so I cleaned it, ran a bead of superglue along the double sided tape, and stuck it down. Held it for five minutes or so and I'll be danged if it hasnt held for the last 2 years and still going.
