I think until he goes forced induction, his little "rainbow" gauges will be just fine. No need to spend all that cash on widebands and such if it's not necessary.

The MAF on your car is a LOT better than the Cobra one. It's the SCT Big Air 2800 MAF. Keep that one and don't ever worry about it pegging again. You'll probably run out of money and ideas to build the car before it pegs. It should be in an ABS plastic housing though. The BA-2400 and 2600 both use the same plastic housing. The BA-2600 and 3000 use aluminum.

It's an aluminum housing, would a plastic be better?

They're not that expensive.. and atleast he'd be able to be more accurate when he starts tuning the car.

It could be a BA-3000. It used to be BA-2400 & 2800 with plastic housings, but they changed to aluminum and became the 2600 and 3000. You could very well have an early model with 2800 electronics in an aluminum housing, unless they just never changed what it said on the label. Either way, if it's a 90mm housing and says BA-2800, that's what you have.

I disagree.

The narrow band doesnt tell u squat. And for ALL tuning applications you need a wideband. Its not only the forced induction guys who need it. The forced induction guys just have a much smaller amount of "wiggle room" to get it right. But N/A, turbo, supercharger, nitrous, etc.....u want to know exactly where you are at.

And besides, since he doesnt need this maf, he can put that $70 towards a $200 wideband setup.

I agree, the stock O2 sensors are pegged before you reach optimum AFR for WOT.
