No pictures, but they reinforce the areas where the control arms mount to. If you race your car, over time you will rip the mounts to pieces/out and be screwed. It doesnt take but a few hrs to install reassemble the car. Well worth the money, a good set can be had for about 100 bucks or so.
I put uppers and lowers on mine despite the fact that I probably have neither the power or the traction to damage the TBs without them. I've seen pics of damaged boxes and I don't want to go down that route.
I've also been getting the car prepped over the last couple of years for the HCI project that I will start within a month or so.
Im looking at buying torque boxes too. I have only heard good things about wild rides race cars. The combo pack is for 185 bucksi think thats a good deal for uppers and lowers from them. also they say the time for lowers is 2.5 hours is that true?? i read in PRO50SC that it only took him about an hour, but whatever i need to get these in.
Beefing up your torque boxes is a good idea when you can afford it but not necessarilly right away. The battle boxes and others will work or you can do like I did and have a good chassis shop weld on steel plates, basically that is what these kits are, just prefabricated and cut plates.
What ever you do. If your car is a daily driver. DO NOT install any aftermarket lower or upper control arms with solid bushings, sperhical, heim etc.. Use Polyurethane bushing arms. The solud bushing arms such as Southsides (basically a bolt in a steel sleeve) will tear up your torque boxes. And then you will have to get them welded back up. This happened to me. Solid bushinged or spherical bushing arms are only good for drag racing. The constant motion of a solid axle car constantly going over bumps, turning into and on road service imperfections, speed bumbs etc. puts a were on these type of bushings and their mounting surface ie: the torque box
so just some control arms with normal polly bushings would be fine for 95% street and maby 5% track...and the torque boxes are a good idea to do while I am in there.
torque boxes reinforcements are a must...the previous owner of my car tore the upper drivers side box a little and the upper passenger side box was compeltely ripped off car. I now have the wilde rides racecar box kit and it went in great..took us some time on a lfit though sense my boxes were so far gone and had to be straightened and realigned before installing new kit.
