Hey I am modeling a V6/V8 motor for school and I was just wondering if anyone knew what the angle was that actually make the "V?" And also, the pistons are staggered right? So it would be like this:

O
.........O
O
.........O
O
.........O
O
.........O

And not like this:

O.......O

O.......O

O.......O

O.......O

Correct? Thanks!

What program are you working with? I am currently gaining a design drafting tech. degree almost finished. One of the courses I am currently taking is Inventer Pro 10. Sounds interesting would like to see how it turns out.

Inventor 11! :D

I've been CAD'ing for 5+ years and only working with Inventor since Sept. and I absolutely love it! Only a Senior in HS too, gonna be a Mechanical Engineer when I get older.

ENG majors have it rough but usually end up doing well... My brother went to a great school, graduated top of his class and has a very nice job that he got out of school... Making great money. had a tough go of it in school, but its paying off now!

If ENG = Engineering... than it's not very hard at all. basically brush up on your physics and math and you will breeze through.

Anyone know the purpose of the flywheel? I mean it's real purpose...

im halfway thru my first semester of ME w/ a minor in business. my school is a very good school, but the engineering program is excelent, its what we're known for (Manhattan College). calc isnt too bad, physics is impossible however haha. if you do end up getting into engineering, i REALLY encourage you to minor in business, its not too difficult and it really pays off in the end.

It's there to "store" kinetic energy for the rotating assembly.

i figured i'd chime in for the engineers. i started in the honors mechanical engineering program at Ohio State. You want to talk about death. That was it. Right now though I'm still deciding whether or not to change my major. i'm through my 5, count them 5, quarters of calc and 3 quarters of physics and it almost killed me. And my GPA was also a casualty of the killer schedule LOL
