SCT Tuning\Logging guide

Hey Guys

I just go a new tune from SCT and my assometer is indicating the car is not as
quick as it was beofre the MODs and new tune. So I want to log the car and see
how thing are running.

I am very new to tuning with an NA car and I want to see if there is a guid on
what number I should have or what I should log etc really anything that would help me see if the car is getting the right timing and fule etc(not sure if this applies to NA car but thats what I konw form tuning the TALON)

The new mods are BBK LT's, BBK X with cat's, 373 gears, and Magnapck cat back.

where did you get the tuner from ? did you get the Xcal 2 with the datalogger? if so you need to log whats going on and maybe get a wideband O2 hooked up and see where the air/fuel is at

The SCT website would be a good start.

There's an extended manual explaining how to log, decoding fuel trim values, and a forum with lots of posts on this topic.

What to log will include MAF, IAT, TPS, IAC, front O2's, ST and LT fuel trims, open/closed loop flag, ...

I got the SCT Xcal2 form American Muscle
I was able to connect it to a laptop and logged some stuff but I have no clue what to look for.

To be honest, I'm not overly impressed with the SCT documentation - you will have to spend time following around with all of the different PID's to figure out which ones are valid on your vehicle.

Then you'll have to read how to interpret the readings...

I think the software should do all of that for you but alas, I'm just a computer engineer with a mustang

i had the SCT Raptor, and now have the SCT Livewire. both automatically found the PID's for me.

the main things to look for are engine load, timing, and a/f ratio. you won't get an accurate a/f ratio without a wideband sensor.

i think peak stock timing is 26* but i could be wrong. i'd check for ya, but my antivirus just killed my pro racer package. engine load should be in the high .8's to low .9's, if i remember correctly. if either of those things is wrong, check to make sure your tune has the correct maf selected and that timing is not retarded.
