self aligning roller rockers

Who´s running rail type roller rockers on AFR heads?
I´m interested on the new self aligning pro magnum´s from comp cam for my AFR185. I´ve a permanently side to side aligning problem (rocker-valve tip) with my standard pro magnum´s and i´m searching for a solution.

Rail type rocker arms are meant to only be used on stud mount cylinder heads that do not use pushrod guide plates.

All AFR ford heads have pushrod guide plates.

If you are having a problem with the rocker arm tip staying centered on the valve stem tip than it is more than likely a problem of improper pushrod length.

When people change components like during a head & cam swap, they often buy stock length replacement pushrods thinking that should work. But, factors such as head deck thickness, brand/type of rocker arm, (to name just a few of many factors) etc. all affect the NEW needed pushrod height. Even just a small difference, say if you really needed .117" longer pushrod, is more than enough to cause slop and improper valvetrain geometry.

Buy a pushrod length checking tool, and find out what length pushrods you really need.

Why can i not simply delete the guide plates and run self aligning rockers? Sorry for the stupid question!

I haven't looked into the self aligning rockers but deleting the guide plates is no problem, that is what you do when you used a shaft rocker. As far as I know there is no rial rocekr made for a latemodel ford or a Ford Aftermarket head.

I've had that issue with a set of AFR's in the past, and no rocker would fix it...if the stud is not drilled in the correct place you will never get it aligned, correct pushrod or not.
