Shelby Bullet Mirrors on a '65 Coupe???

I am trying to decide if I want to go with bullet mirrors on my '65 coupe. Any opinions on how these mirrors look on a coupe? My car is going to be painted black.

The distance between the screws on the bullet mirrors is greater than that of the standard mirror, correct?

Does anyone have pictures of these mirrors on a coupe?

I will be watching this post myself as I am interested in doing the same thing. Wasnt there a guy on Ebay selling them for like $99.00 for a pair?

I have the 65' Shelby R mirrors on my 66' coupe. Does that count?

I am not sure. I orderd my mirrors a few years ago, when my car was originally planned on being completed, from Mustangs Unlimited.

If the mounting screws were the same for both styles of mirrors, I would then just try them both to see if I liked the bullet or standard mirrors. However, I don't believe this is the case.

How about some pictures. I was thinking about doing this as well. I don't want to drill any more holes.

I had the bullet style mirrors on my fastback. In order to make your vent window operable, you have to mount the bullet mirrors farther back on the door. This really limits their usefullness. I ended up taking them off and putting the stock mirrors back on.

Same here, they prevented my vents from opening all the way, and I'm not sure if other's have the same issue but I can barely see anything out of mine.

I put 'em on my '68 and while they are not the most useful mirror, they look great.
I got the ones without the base and they clear the vent windows just fine. I'm thinking about buying a convex mirror for the passneger side, since all I can see now is a tiny spot near the roof scoop. But like the Ferrari driver in "Gumball Rally" said, ...whatsa behind me, isa not important!..."

ZO6, ive never noticed the r model mirrors on your car, did you have to alter the bases to fit in the recess of the door properly? i couldnt get them to look right on mine, so i discarded the base, and used a 1/4" nylon washer under the mirror...

I put them on my '67 Coupe, I didn't think the stock square one gave much viewing area either so I don't think I lost much in that area. I think they look 100X better than the square one. My car will be repainted eventually so I'll have the rear mount hole closed in.

I picked these up on another forum but they were only $20-$25ea. so it wasn't a big investment. I think the '65/66 can use the Shelby ones and they're supposed to cover both holes but I don't know about the vent windows opening. Mine just cleared when tilted right, I may do some grinding on the bases to get them to sit in the channel better and lean out more maybe for clearance.

I put a stick on convex mirror on the right but need one with less of a bend so I don't see the sidewalk when I'm driving, at least it's better than no mirror as it was stock. Sorry for the dirty car, replacing front suspension:

No i didn't change anything, yet. My mirror hits the drip rail and is totally useless. It is strictly cosmetic. I have another one for the pass side that needs to go on. Can you post pics of yours so I can see what you did?

Here's a pic of where mine are mounted. You can see it doesn't hit the vent, even when it's wide open and IMHO, they look a whole lot better than the stockers.

I guess i have a different style bullet mirror; and these from NPD use the same holes as the regular mirrors.

Those look like the ones with the base, I ordered the ones without the base for the cleaner look.

No i can't use the vents fully, but if i move it up a little i can, my painter was too lazy to drill new holes and cover up the old ones. Right now they're using the old stock holes.
The vents open up but ever so slightly.

This is about as close as I could find. It's a few months old, I'll take a better one this weekend.
