Shocks and springs question??

Hi All,

Well as we get closer to spring I am getting closer to changing my springs and tiers.

The question is how big of change will I get form by changing the shocks from the stock ones? will I see any changes?

comments please peps.
thanks

Depends a lot on the springs and not the shocks. I have Bilsteins and they are great. But I also have H&R Supersports with an almost 2" drop. With a drop like that you do sacrifice some of your ride quality.

Also you will notice that when you post pics of your car, people will stop asking you where you go on the weekends to do your offroading with your 4x4 car. :)

The ride quality/harshness depends on what springs and shock combo your going with.

Thanks for the feedback. :nice:

I am looking at going with Eibach Pro Kit Spring Set (94-04 GT Convertible) and Bilstein HD Shock & Strut Package (94-04) I am not looking for a huge ride drop only an 1" or so just to loose the weekend 4X4 questions, lol

I also want to maintain or improve the ride comfort too, so I am not asking for too much really  I hate the speed boat cornering feeling I get with stock set up.:notnice:

Have any of you fitted your own if so what kind of time estimate would I be looking at or is it a TPITA?

thanks

If money isnt an issue I would get Bilstiens. Koni and Tokicos are good as well. Remember its a solid axle car so its not gonna be the more comfy riding car on the road. Ride comfort is also pretty subjective. I mean i like the raw feeling a stang has especially with suspension mods. To me it feels more controlled and tight(if you know what i mean). It may still be a rough ride but it doesn't bother me

Great replies :nice:

I am just looking for a nice blend of controlled handling and still get a reasonable ride (not bone jaring if you know what I mean) But I expect to have some stiffness with lower ride but have to loose the 4X4 feel

thanks again!

Your right about the feel. I have Steeda Sport springs, about 1 1/2" drop, and cornering was improved, car felt more solid all around, but bumps were slightly more noticeable. I also did not require CC plates for alignment but if you can afford it why not? I think your setup sounds like it will work fine for what your looking for. Show us some before and after pics when your done.
