Shoddy replacement "OEM" GT Rear Bumper

I need your help. I was recently rear-ended in my '05 Mustang GT ( :damnit: !!!). So I took it to the dealership that I purchased it from do to the repairs. I figured a FORD dealership would be the best place. All-in-all, the damage wasn't THAT bad. The bumper definitely needed to be replaced, and my left exhaust pipe / muffler was replaced as well. About $1200 in damage.

Anyway, the reason I'm posting on here is becuase I'm extremely unhappy with the replacement bumper. There are "mold lines" at the corner where the bumper meets the wheel wells. On top of that, the corner is rounded in a way that it doesn't completely come to the edge to meet the sheet metal on the wheel well. I'm attaching some pictures for illustration purposes. I'm hoping that someone can either post similar pictures of this section of their car (stock bumpers only please) becuase I refuse to believe that Ford's OEM parts are this ****ty. I looked at a V6 '05 Mustang that was in my parking lot here at work yesterday and it looked like it should look, in my opinion. I'm tempted to make these guys order a completely different bumper and replace it again!!!

That looks correct, just checked my car and it looks the same. My bumber is stock from factory and was never replaced. Your dealer gave you the right bumber

Really?!?! Well, hell. The corners on the V6 are much less rounded, and match up to the sheet metal better. I just didn't remember the corners being that round before. What about "mold lines"? Do you see where the corners aren't smooth?

Perhaps I'm being too picky!?!?

yeah, mine are the same way - right off the production line - they did a bad job with the back bumper oh well

I actually noticed the molding lines on a used GT and I thought maybe the bumper had been replaced, but I guess not. She's a Ford alright, haha.

99% of bumpers out there have these mold lines. it is normal. and as far as the roundness of the edge, it depends on the design, but i dont see it as a problem. if there was evidence that the shop rounded them, then i would have a problem. that looks factory to me.

The V6 is a completely different bumper than the GT's, I guess ford spent more time on the V6...no fair

Anyway it's nothing thats really noticable

My GT Back bumper is identical to yours... Funny - I've washed it a dozen times and never noticed that.. Probably won't be able to look at the car now without seeing it..

Ditto, Big-Foot!!! I had the Mustang for four months and never noticed the mold lines or rounded corner. However, since I was rear-ended and the bumper had been replaced, I was looking it over with a fine toothed comb and noticed it. I had already had a bad taste in my mouth with these guys becuase a week prior they had called me and told me it was ready. So I go to pick it up and they didn't even fix the exhaust (it was noticably pushed inward) and the corner of the bumper where I was hit was not flush to the quarter panel. I was livid that they would even consider this "done" and wanted me to give them the insurance check and leave.

Well, sorry to anyone (ahem...Big-Foot) if I've pointed out something that you never noticed before but will see from now on. I'm in the same boat.

At least you got your car back eng21! Mine suffered almost $25,000 in damages from someone rearending me at 40mph while I was stopped at a traffic light. I only had my Mineral Grey Mustang GT for 4 1/2 months at the time. Good thing I talked them into calling it a total loss and not fixing it. They were close to deciding it could be repaired and would take over 4 months to fix. How's this for a photo showing parts that no longer match up? Yep, the right rear wheel was pushed 6 inches forward into the fender well.

WTF? it is a 2005 BRAND NEW CAR!!! should be OEM parts all the way, no doubt. i would complain till hell freezes over for that!!

Ouch! drivers need to be more careful around these mustangs! Of course I just got a pinstriping from some little bastard on my stealth from the front to the rear, why cant people leave others cars alone?
