Shoes for racing

I am going to try my hand at road racing and/or slalom racing this spring and need some new shoes. I understand that my Nikes, Red wings, or flip flops just won't cut it.

Any recommendations for an entry level shoe?

Dont laugh but converse...

Really anything that fits snug on your foot and that has a very thin sole. Hell you can race barefooted ...

Deric you can never go wrong with Adidas Sambas. That's what i use at the track and i love them. Hope you had a good X-mas!
