O.k.I know I had a question similar to this one before but It's really important.
I have a neighbor down the street who owns a 2002 mustang gt automatic with just a CAI. He was talking about how nice my car sounded, and how it looks blah blah blah. Then he starts saying stuff like oh it's still a slow sn95,has no power, his car would eat it alive type of talk. This guy was really pissing me off.Well anyway I told him my mods and he still rattled on about sn95's have no power.I told him let's race then, there is a back road I know off a little over a 1/4 mile.He told me he only races for money and he told me to bet $20.He also wants to race at a 10 mph roll. I told him I'll let him know tomarrow. The question is will I be able to beat this guy?I have a 1994 mustang gt auto vert with Cai,pulleys, magnaflow exhaust,x pipe, shift kit,3:73's,3000 stall converter and timing at 14.My tires are good along with his.

He should beat you. With your mods you should run a low to mid 15, and I think your buddy would be low 15 to high 14. Only one way to find out. Although, I don't agree with street race thing . Take it to the track.

with gears you have a slight advantage, it would probably be a close race, but im relaly not sure, i dont know how fast the sn95 verts are compared to coupes.

well my dad has a 2002 GT Auto stock, he ran 14.96 @93mph. I think with ur mods especially the gears u should be close to that. Give him a run and see.

Tell him to run for $10 its worth a try, looks close to me. If you really wanna go out of your way to beat him cause hes pissing you off, ice your intake.

Remove some weight, like the dog bone, back seats, passenger seat, spare tire, jack, race him on a quarter of a tank. That will remove a little weight from your heavy vert.

I disagree charlie...If he drives 3/4 decent..he's gotta get 14.6 or so with those mods.

RUN HIM! If he's so fast why does he want to run from a roll???
That's LAME. In fact, that's down right ricey! Tell him if he only races for money then he has to race like a MAN from a dead stop.

I do agree that you should remove as much weight as possible...
but leave the interior intact. There's no braggin rights to winning if you had to completely disassemble your car to do it.

Also, lower your rear tire PSI and increase your front PSI. Don't go nuts witht that though or your handling will get squirrely.

i got an idea, why not go find one just like his and race him just to see what you will do. that way you don't lose 20 dollars if you do lose.

guys hes not going to be able to bolt on any mods, Install Nitrous, or rip apart the whole interior of the car in one day. Its not worth it for one race anyway. I do agree w/ starting from a dead stop. Thats the way real men race and tell him if hes so much faster then you then it shouldent matter. Hopefully the low end TQ of the 5.0 will make up for your weight down low off the start. His car really isent faster then yours, you just have a weight disadvantage b/c its a vert. The only reason Ricers like to race from rolls is b/c they know they cant compeate w/ the low end TQ of a V8.

im with everyone else. race from a dead that way you get to really use your gears. nothing like watching a 3.73 gear leave in a true 5.0 i miss them days. from a dead you should pull out in front of him, just dont look pay and watch your shift points because all the pressure is on him to run a perfect race not you and pressure makes things snap

O.k guys I decided to race the guy today,we set up a time to meet which is at 7:00 pm tonight because the guy gets done at work at 6 pm.I took out the spare tire and jack out of the trunk, inflated the front tires and took of weight in the back tires. He insisted on going from a roll and I told him from a dead stop or I'm not racing. Then he started saying your afraid to get smoked and that bull sh**.I got in his face and told him a few of my words. He finally gave in and agreed on racing from a dead stop.

WISH ME LUCK!

I'll tell you the results after the race.

i think you shoudl be able to take him. i know MMFF made an auto coupe run 14 flat but they are gods of cars so they can do that, but ice you intake and turn off all other accesories, and make sure ur windows are up. then show him why the 302 was used for so damn long. you might also want to do a power burn right b4 to heat up ur tires. it alwasy helped me out, plus it usually scared the other guy a lil bc he had no idea why i was doing that(stupid ricers)

i think you've got him, especially with the shift kit and the gears... and I've honestly never even heard of racing from a roll at all unless you're screwing around on the highway... Badder Adder pretty much said everything that I was gonna say, so I'll just leave it at that.

Well Guys,I went to the spot where we were supposed to race at 7pm like planed and the mother Fu**er never showed. I waited there to 7:45 and finally left. This really pisses me off.I don't know what the problem was but I think he just didn't know how to launch the car. That seems like the only logical reason to me.I mean why would he he want to race from a roll in the first place? I was ready and prepared,my friend which works on performance cars even told me I should win this race due to my converter and gears.I really appreciate your help and support.
I just can't believe this happend,he seemd so confident.
