Alright, I have been kicking this around for a while. I have also read some of the replies up here on whether or not a good deal was found. So check this out. I found a 99 Cobra, blk on blk with 79k for 10,500. I was almost jumping through the roof. I tried to go look at it but the guy told me that someone was coming to look at it, cash in hand, and if he liked it was going to take it home. I figured it was gone. Well, he called me back and said the guy didn't take it. Now, he has dropped his price to 10,000. From the pics, it looks good, stock except for stereo and shifter. So, what do you think? I was reading how someone said it's nice to buy from the original owner, well, I think he said he is the third. I havent seen it in person yet because he is over an hour and a half away, but I wanted to get your opinions on it. Let me know what you think. Thanks.

I'm just so bent, because like all others I really want an 03/04, so I feel like I am settling but theres no way I can afford the 03/04. This sounds like a good deal, but the other people who went to go look at and did not buy it is now bothering me. AND, now he has lowered the price. Raises an eyebrow. Hopefully I'll check it out this weekend and report back.

Go check it out, and make sure its in good condition. If it is, then just throw on a KB 1.7 kit and you'll be taking down 03's and 04's for breakfast (assuming they arent modded ).

A good question to ask him is why is he/she selling it? If possible, get a mechanic to look at it and run it through the hoops. Also, verify if the recall (the fix) has been done on it by running the VIN through SVT.

I found my 99 3 months ago for 12.5k, and I often debate if I should have waited to find a good 03-04. But for that price, if you put in 10k worth of modifications (supercharger, forged internals, interior/exterior etc) you will have one mean Cobra for far cheaper.

There could be something wrong with it but you wont know until you go look at it. I went to an 01 and have moved on since. If a terminator is what you want, and you have that kind of cash, get some financing done up and drop the 10 G on a down payment. Ill tell you ride in a 99/01 and then ride in a modified Terminator AND YOU WILL SEE GOD. Kidding there is one hell of a difference

i just settled for the 01 but i'm very happy with it. can't quite afford an 03 yet by about $6000. i'm 21 so I don't save a dime, so I had to make a decision quick to either dump more money or get into something newer. either way it was an upgrade. i'll be outta college soon so then paying off this car will be a lot easier and getting into an 03/04 may only be 2 years away.

Personaly I would rather get an 99/01 and buy my own supercharger. I hate that annouying wine from roots blowers.

Or buy an 03/04 and upgrade to a KB 2.2 twinscrew for 4k

The problem with the 99/01 is that you cant really get higher than 9-10 pounds of boost before things start to go wrong without modifying the stock internals (still cheaper than buying an 03/04 though, but more work)

A 10lb procharger on a 01 is more then enough power for me. You would allmost never get beat on the street. You would probably put down 400 rwhp and still be cheaper then an 03/04.

Yeah, but that instantaneous low end torque is a lot more fun on the street than what a standard centrifugal S/C provides.

How would you know it sounds like ass? All you ever get to hear is the exhaust!
