Truly, out to sea
Taking off my side exhaust tomorrow along w/ the side skirts and was wondering if anyone would reccommend a side skirt for me in case i can't get a hold of the stock ones. Quality 1st, looks 2nd. Also, what would it cost to get them painted? Thanks.

You shouldn't have any trouble finding stock sides. You might check a junk yard and see if you can pick them up real cheap. You could also check online at different places like www.stangparts.com. I don't know how much it'll cost to get painted.

I am also curious as to why you are getting rid of the side exhaust...?

The side exhaust isn't stainless, and i live on coast of maine, and the mufflers blew/rusted out. I won't be sure of the condition of the flow tubes and tailpipes until i take it off, but they don't look so hot either. So it was either replace the mufflers for $120 plus pay to have them welded in (and have the same problem in a few years and have to worry about the pipes), or $370 for new stainless catback with no installation cost. And I'll probably get flamed for this, but they were a little loud when the windows were down (couldn't really have a conversation). Now i'm worried it will be too quiet :rlaugh: Yea, I'd definetly be interested in trading the side exhaust skirts for stockers, but i don't think the '99 would fit. Looking in mustangs unlimited catalog, there are different kits for 94-98 and 99-04. Guy who changed them originally says he might still have stockers and he'll call me when he gets a chance to look but it's been close to 2 weeks and still haven't heard from him. :bang: The side exhaust looks nice but i have to wonder about restriction issues cause mufflers blew out at rear on bottom but outlet pipe is in front, same side as inlet pipes. So if i can get stockers for "free" or next to it, i will, but just curios what side skirts would look good w/ otherwise stock body trim.
