I just installed tonight a SLP off road x-pipe...kinda crappy that you have to remove the stock exhaust manifold studds to install it!!! but anyway the pipe hangs way way way to low for me scrapes on everything now ...its only like 2.5 inches maybe 3 off the ground!!! anybody else have this problem with there slp??? i have BBK off road and basani cats on before and nothing like this

just removed my SLP X for a Bassani piece. With off road pipes there was never a problem, obviously. But with the cats Id scrape quite a bit, even at stock ride height. After lowering, it became a real PITA.

Did you use a jack to raise the pipe up before you tightened all the bolts/clamps? If you just stick it on and tighten everything up without raising it, as it will hang rather low.

I jacked mine up and they still hung low. Its just the way the piece is made. The cats are round, and IMO the downpipes come down a bit too much. My new Bassani piece doesnt come down as far as the SLP and the cats are small in diameter.

Oh Ok, I thought I'd mention it as it's an often over looked step of a mid-pipe installation.

jacking it definitely helps, so good point. At stock ride height I just had to be careful over big speed bumps, and certain driveways, etc. After lowering the car is when it became a real pita.

You will not scrape if you put a jack under the x pipe jack it up so its tight under the car then tighten the bolts. If your stang is slammed 2" and over drop then it really doesn't matter what exhaust you have it will scrape.

They scraped with stock springs, they scraped like a mother with H&R Sports, and like Ive said before, yes I jacked the X-pipe.

Is it a good piece? Yes. Its high quality and fits well, but that doesnt change the fact that the cats are a little too big and hang low. As far as any exhaust scraping if you are slammed, that may be true. But Im not slammed. There are places I had to creep over with my SLP cats, whereas now I can drive normally with the Bassani cats.

Here's what my SLP cats looked like when I removed the X-pipe Friday. Most of this was done after the drop, but some was done at stock ride height.

My system is tucked up nice and tight....but with the DR gas, you get it where you want it and then weld it up there . And my BBk LTs are up tight too.

The SLP headers hang low....poor Jason LOL he wont be able to drive anywhere

Stock height...I would have to do some extreme off roading to get it to scrape lol. Now with like a 2 inch drop in the front it will scrap if I dont wathc were im going or go over speed bumps too fast.

I thought $500 was a steal

Hopefully the Mustang won't be going very many places.. I'd like to get a cheap $2500 honda or something to drive around.. I don't care if i'm driving a beater/hoopty as long as I know that i've always got the Mustang back at home
