SLP X pipe HANGS WAY LOW??!! Why??!?>

just removed my SLP X for a Bassani piece. With off road pipes there was never a problem, obviously. But with the cats Id scrape quite a bit, even at stock ride height. After lowering, it became a real PITA.
Did you notice much difference in the two, like sound wise and ease of installation?
Yipes on the scrape marks on the cats!! Did you know the Bassani was going to sit higher than the SLP before you bought it or did you just buy it and hope it was going to be better?

The Bassani produces a deeper sound IMO, and I really like it. In fact I'll post vids of both x-pipes with my bassani C/B.

I had a pretty good Idea the bassani cats would sit higher. They aren't near as large in diameter as the SLP cats. They just look like a bulge in the tubing. I bought it bc numbnuts in the post above you is buying SLP LT's and wanted to buy my SLP X for $500, which we agreed on and he signed with his own blood.

Give me a minute to dig up those clips.

SLP makes great quality stuff, and the best looking exhaust tips for our cars IMO. I had no problem at all having their stuff on my car......

.....except this one time......

Check your engine mounts

I have just finished fitting SLP LT header cats and X pipe to my 1997 GT Conv.

I initially had the same problem then found that my engine mounts were shot to bits. I put new Energy suspension mounts on whioch raised everything 3/4 of an inch. I have Steeda springs so the whole car is 1 1/2 in lower than stock.

It is low but I do not get any major issues.

I had thought of getting the Bassani before finally deciding on the SLP b/c of the extra .3 Hp gain from the "true X' design. :D
It seems to fit OK maybe a little lower than the stocker but I still have the 4x4 look so dragging the cats hasn't been an issue.

TrueX > non true X hands down. Probably closer to 3-5HP :) . And true X sounds much better  . Only non true Xs that sound good are those with cats....if Helty pulls the cats. Well :rlaugh: ill feel sorry for him.

I have heard bassani O/R X and weldin flows in person....NOT good IMO.

hotmustang, that was my exact exhaust setup before my current.....it sounded like terrible.

i dont have problems with the slp l/t and catted mid either but i am also not lowered yet.

Yea a girl at my old job had a 03 or something GT with that setup :nonono: LOL it was super loud and popped alot, and just wasnt smooth at all.

IMO the SLP stuff is great...- the LM1 catback lol. (unless the X or H is catted, then it sounds  ). and the LM2 with non catted.

 SLP LM1 and O/R X-pipe = the nastiest, most ungodly sound on earth!! But it was sooooo damn funny, I nearly pissed myself from laughing :rlaugh: :rlaugh:

But yeah, bassani x-pipe and flows = nasty ass crap sound.. a guy I know has it.. he thinks it's God's gift to mustangs lol

But.. I'm gonna have SLP LT's and X-pipe..

I guess I should go ahead and replace the oval with a bowtie? :(
We'll Jason if you like SLP exhaust products more power to you.I
personaly never liked SLP in general and I have heard numerous people
outside of this site complain about fitment problems with their catback
exhausts and scraping issues with their X pipes.I see SLP products on
mustangs and I think that it just doesn't belong on the car plus looks
out of place on the car.The first time I heard the SLP Loudmouth 1 catback
it was the worst sound from a exhaust I ever heard in my life but, to
each his own.I have heard the Bassani catted X pipe and Flowmaster super 40's on a mustang before and I thought it didn't sound all that bad.
