Hey,

Go figure, my smog pump kicks the bed right as I'm driving back from getting an oil change - guy quotes me at a ridiculous price so I think I'm just going to buy the part and new belt and since they're not open til Tues. - just bring it in and save some cash - The only two pumps I can find are a "Cardone" remanufactured one from Advance and a Motorcraft one (CX-1399) for about 280 - the Cardone is like 112 - any suggestions/ and or does it matter which one I pick up? Thanks guys.

Yeah, some guys on here just slap a shorter belt on there in a different routing sequenceand remove the pump for HP gains and weight loss. It's not really needed unless you have emissions testing. (for obvious visuals) I think it's a 89.5" belt... but I'm sure someone will come along and confirm that. I've yet to do this to my car.... but it's soon to come.

well, you have 2 options here.....you can either pay for shipping and i'll send you my smog pump, or you can pick up an asp smog pump idler pulley for about $40. the idler retains the stock belt config and gets rid of the pump completely. if you dont have cats, the idler is the way to go since the smog pump serves absolutely no purpose other than pumping air into the cats to extend their life.

here is the idler.....

89.5 is not right? what is then?

i have the bbk underdrive pullies, and 89.5 is the closest one i can find that fits. the next one down (88.7) is a little too short. 89.0 would be perfect (i think), but i don't think they make them that length.

i would think the cats would be find if they got enough air. it is the lack of air from the smog pump that kills them.

Mine has a idler pully on it now I'm about to take it off when I get ready to put a new belt on it. You don't even need if it route the belt right.
