I am looking to remove my somg pump and the AC unit. I have looked for a thread about this but failed in finding one. Any way if there is a write up some one please point me that way if not is there anyhting I need to know about removing this stuff befor I start. I have seen a few pics that dont have the pump or the AC unit and it looks like they just used a shorter belt. I this the case or do I need to move stuff around with relocating brackets.
Thanks for the help

You'll need the Ford Racing A/C delete kit. About $40.

For the smog pump, just delete it and change the routing of the belt.

Belt size will need to be determined later with a peice of string to measure

I have removed both with out useing the ac delete kit from ford. i ended up going to the junkyard and taking the brakets from a 85-91 ford crown or merc 5.0.

Then it was to autozone to figure out the belt size. I looked but i got rid of my reciepts from there for the belt size, but figuring out the size is easy useing a string.

do you still have cats on your exhaust? most will tell you that they clog up w/o air being pumped into them when you delete the smog pump. I didn't delete for this reason, we still smog test in my area so an off road pipe was out.

I've looked on here for info on belt size for a A/C delete and a smog pump delete kit. And which the A/C delete kit (M-8511-A50) works great. But the real problem was finding the right belt size ( pain in the ass). If you are using factory pulleys the belt you need is a 71.5. From what I notice some people are throwing belt sizes out and not telling if there use aftermarket pulleys or factory. You can find out alot here

There are way too many variables.

WHat i tell people to do is wrap some string around the pulleys and measure. Then go to a parts store and find a 6-rib belt that lenght and get a size above and below it.

BTW, belt part numbers usually indicate their size. So ABCD600715 would be a 71.5" belt by the last numbers of the P/N.

this is correct. I ended up with a 72" belt and i have march under drives on my car with the ford racing AC delete.
