I will never forget the first time I ran my buddy's Dad in his 87 GN. Mind you this was back when they first hit the street and I knew nothing about them. All I knew is that it was a sinister looking "Regal". I got my '85GT in late '87 and of course you couldn't convince me anything was faster. lol Well, I crossed paths with my neighbor in his GN one night and we took into the local "drag strip". Long story short that thing instantly became one of my favorite cars. My mods were a 3.73 gear and exhaust but it was no match. His son had a black '86 Saleen (to this day Black Saleens are my favorite Fox bod). We had some good battles. It was usually a driver's race but the Saleen was definitley quicker.

Yeah exactly! There will always be generation gaps. My neighbor's son just bought a 2005 GT and he's tickled to death about all the mods he can do to his stang to make it go faster, stop better, and be unique. Welcome to mustangs bud! I was teasing him the other day about how his girlfriend might become second in his heart to his mustang, his response..."become? it's already happened! I've spent more money throwing parts at this car than I've spent on her in 2 years! What about you and your stang?" Happy wife....Happy life!!!!! My stang is on the back burner for a bit lol..

Most of us older gents have had to put our Foxes on the back burners from time to time, especially for family obligations. Sometimes we find a new hobby in the mean time; mine was motorcycling and that pulls from the mad money funds.

Marriage, house, new car for the wife, new-used 04GT for me for me (both now paid off), bike is where I want it to be, picked up a side arm and now I am finally getting back on the Notch. In all honesty, I needed a break from it and while I simply polished it and drove it around to cruise nights, I didn't dump any money into it. However, she is now starting to show more needs and so, she is getting attention. I've even put all the swaybars back on the old girl and reinstalled the ponies with new rubber. She makes 430hp to the rear tire and looks stone stock, I couldn't be happier.

I've always used b-day, Christmas and side money to support my hobbies as to never draw from family funds: I figured it was the responsible thing to do as the head of household.

It's not the car. It's the attitude of the person driving the car. I'm willing to bet some of the guys bashing on AWD have never driven one. My 5.0 and WRX share DD duties in my house and both have their pros and cons. As of right now the WRX handles a lot better, gets better mileage, and is faster then my 5.0. However once I get to building an engine for the 5.0 its going to be a lot faster. I'm a car guy and not super brand loyal (I own more Mopars then anything else though). I have a friend with a 500+ hp Civic Si, and he is a real gear head, not a douche with a big wing. Don't limit yourself in the automotive world, cause you never know what you might miss out on.
