Hi guys,

Ive just ordered the stage 2 snow methanol injection kit to try and cool the intake air temp after the paxton has done beating on the air..

I was thinking of installing the injector nozzle before the intake air temperature sensor, that way, when it is on, and cooling the air, the intake air sensor will see the lower temp and not pull out as much timing.

Alternatively, I could install it after the sensor, but then have to have 2 tunes, one for without methanol, and one for with ?! seems a hassle to me to do it that way but it may be best..

the question is i guess..... Can the intake air sensor cope with being coated in methanol/water everytime i go WOT ???

any help/advice/experience would be greatly appreciated.

Mine is after the IAC. I use isopropyl alcohol. I don't have two tunes. It starts spraying at 5 psi. I am running 8 psi of boost. I have the snow kit for insurance against detontation. I am not pushing the limits of the stock engine. My tuner did 15 back to back dyno runs and it did not get heat soaked or loss of power. He made the dyno runs to determine if the kit was actually performing as advertised to prevent detotantion. Apparently it did work. Below are my mods.

3X black premium 2k1 GT 5 speed ragtop
Drive Train:
FMS 3.73 gears, Vortech SQ, AFM powerpipe, FMS aluminum D/S, Steeda shifter, 80 mm MAF, Steeda Fuel pump, SnowPerformance water injecton, BBK 75MM TB, C&L plenum, SCT chip
Wheels/Tires: 10th anniversary Cobra, Nitto ZR 275 x 40 x17
Suspension:
TKO 5 way (years 87 to 93 for 94+ lowered stangs), Vert Eibach Pro Springs, offset rack bushings, Steeda c/c plates, Steeda subframes w/cross brace, Steeda X2 balljoints and bumpsteer
Interior:
99 Mustang A-pillar covers, Autometer A-Pillar gauge pod, Autometer FP and boost gauges, 03 Cobra headrest
Exchaust:
Steeda catback , MRT H-pipe with cats
RWHP/360 RWTQ/360 SAE corrected
Very conserative tune.

hmmmmm

so if for some reason your snow kit stops working, you'll det ??? has the tuner tuned the engine with the snow kit on there, ie added timing in and it wont knock, but if it wasnt spraying it might ?

just asking..

That is exactly the way it is tuned. It was tuned with the kit installed. I didn't want a water/air cooler (e.g. intercooler) If the pump malfunctions, the engine won't detonate. I'm not looking for big horse power numbers neither does my tuner. The keyword is SAFE. Of course , I know there are no guarantees. The internals are stock. My tuner gives safe tunes, if the customer insist on bigger numbers but at risk of damage he will attempt to change their mind. If they insist then he tells them the risk. He does not advertise, he works-on a good number of cars which have blown engines by other tuners.

I have heard from reputable sources and also read, that if you run out of methonal, not to run the car hard. The car will run lean at high RPM with boost if you are out of meth. It is always a good idea to top it off every time you leave, and maybe even carry a quart or two. Is that stuff corrosive? I heard mixed stories.

As far as placement, I'm single stage and I went after the air sensor. The water is supposed to be "vaporized" anyway. As for meth versus water deal, theoretically, you should be okay on just water (as far as detonation). I also like the idea of isopropanol versus meth. At least iso isn't reputed to cause cancer, etc.
