So i am a little bored, so i thought i would fill yall in and get some advice. Me and my cousin bought a RV about 2 months ago and are going on a roadtrip with it. we have been planning this out for about 8 months now. We are leaving on Jan. 2, 2008. and we are leaving from chicago with 4 additional friends and driving to vegas. we will actually be in vegas for 3 days and then they are all flying home, and just my cousin and myself will be carrying on.

We plan on then driving to SanFransico from vegas and just working our way down the coast, through arizona and texas, hanging out in New Orleans for mardi gras, then just slowly working around the gulf, into GA, and then into florida in time for the Daytona 500 and Daytona beach for spring break. The plan is for this to all take about 2.5 months and get back home (chicago) sometime around March 17th.

We figure an oppurtunity for this to happen will not present itself for awhile if we do not do this now. I am turning 21 tom. and my cousin is currently 21, so we want to do this now since we are now both legal to drink, and it is before we have real jobs/commitments.

so basically i am wanting to know where are some cool/interesting/fun places to stop along the way. i have never been west of the mississippi river, so this is all very exciting to me. of course money is def. an object of concern so cheap/free things to see and do would be awsome. put it this way, any idea is of benefit because i have never even seen mountains.

and of course here is what we are traveling in.

1985 GMC leisurecraft. it is 27ft. long and only has 30,000 miles on it.

thanks a lot
Steve

If I may suggest, since your going to be in the Georgia area around mid March, come to Savannah for St. Patty's Day. I PROMISE you its unbelivable...its the 2nd largest celebration in the US. Don't believe me? Heres a pic from River Street where all the bars are...the street goes for about 2 miles, and this pic is only as far as I could see...it was like this the whole way down!!!

Make sure you do a tune up on your ride. If I ever get a corbra I was going to take it on a road trip. when I get enough money saved up the gas will cost $6 a gal. lol

You should see Bourbon St. for Mardi Gras. You dont walk, you kinda like "hover". You can actually pick both feet up off the ground sometimes. lol

i am def. going to try and be in GA for st. patty's day. The southside of chicago has a pretty decent st. pattys day parade, but that looks killer.

and that is a nature/bambi scene painted on the back. it shows off my sensitive side.

Well being an RV tech, I would say the most important thing to do would be to hook up the city water, check for leaks in all the plumbing, fill the grey and black tanks to make sure they are not cracked and hold water. Also make sure the dump valves don't leak. The cap works, but it isn't fun when the black valve leaks and the drain pipe fills with brown water.

An engine check-up would also be a good idea....

And for the fun side of the trip, I got nothing. Sorry dude, I live in a desert!

i hope you have a lot of money saved up for this trip cause it ain't going to be cheap. vegas will hit you hard.

doing a quick map, i see you'll be south of the good mountain stuff in wyoming and south dakota. depending on your time, i would go round a bit and see mount rushmore and crazy horse. wyoming has yellowstone national park but that is really far north. stop at the corrs brewery in colorado. maybe some skiing in aspen.
