I was just cruising along on the interstate when all of a sudden my right rear tire just blows out of nowhere!! My car fish tailed a little but and that was about it. Luckily my rim did not get scratched up or anything but I am still pretty pissed. I'm not real sure if tires can get dry-rotted, but these are the original tires that came new on the sc 281. The car is an 04 with only 2700 miles on it and I just got it a few months ago. So it has been sitting up in a garage for the most part and I am just wondering if the tires could have possibily just went bad? I have the Pirelli P7000 on them now running 255/35 in the front and 265/35 in the rear. Does anybody know a good website to get these and are there any other suggestions on some other real good tires that you guys might have and like. Not too familiar with any of the name brands. THANKS.

Sorry to hear about your blowout. Without seeing pictures, I can't speculate on the reason for the failure.

I would try Tirerack.com

I am a big fan of the Mich Pilot Sport PS2's

Not cheap, but a great all around tire.

Michelins are the best, but you'll have to refinance your house to pay for them!

Try the Kumho ECSTA Sport. a lot of porsche guys run them at road atlanta. i bought a set and think they are great. Great price too.

Okay I will look into those sets. I will try to post some pics on here later. I might try to take the tire up to a shop and see if they can tell if they are all just bad or maybe it was just a bad luck kinda thing.

I hope it was just bad luck, I have run over both a screw driver (with week old tires) that went through the sidewall, and a automotive starter bolt through the sidewall on my work vehicle. So who's driving around with their starter hanging by the wires?!?!?!

I've found kumho's to be crap. Noisy and sloppy handling on my xp8. Hate them to say the least. I got what i payed for.

Use bfg g forces.

I'll put my vote in for Toyo T1R's.. been running them on our 00 S281SC for a few seasons and have been very happy with their price and performance. The older version (T4S??) used to get real loud at around 8k miles but I think they fixed that with the new generation. Tirerack does not carry them though.

I run Goodyear Eagle GS-D3's on both the Saleen and the Cobra. They are the best performing tire I have ever driven. Read the reviews on www.tirerack.com and you'll see that most people agree.
