I agree with 6-8 psi. The good news is that you won't have to mess around with plumbing a pesky intercooler. If intercooling IS desired, you should be able to get what you need from meth injection or even a little (50hp or less) hit of nitrous.
well I was planning on going with a Procharger intercooled anyways. Would having an intercooler affect how much boost I can handle? Or should I just go 6-8 without the intercooler? And what about mixing in some racing fuel?
You need either cooler air or octane. Race gas is usually higher octane. As is alcohol. (Either in the fuel or injected into the intake.) You can even use just water injected into the intake. Nitrous will also "intercool" the intake charge that way. Of course an intercooler can only do so much. I personally think that it would be a waste of time and money to intercool a low boost application, like yours. The intercooler is used to offset the rise in intake charge temps due to high boost. Most cent SC's are designed for much higher psi than you'll be running. It will be even more efficient there. You will not be compressing the intake charge by a huge amount because of your higher cylinder compression.
That said, it really isn't THAT difficult to add the intercooler to the installation.
Thanks a lot for the info reddy. I e-mailed procharger, and they said no more than 10 PSI, so I guess I'll split the differene and go 9 psi. Following what you said, I guess I won't go intercooled but I may add one down the line or go with meth injection so I can bump up the timing a bit. Thanks for the help.
