i have wondered this for a while now, but decided to ask.

if you have a cobra, and are buying an aftermarket MAF(with electronics like a pro-m) are you supposed to buy one for 24's?

reason i ask is when you buy a C&L you are supposed to buy one for 19's(regular sample tube) since the puter is already cal'd for 24's.

i posted in tech cuz the tuning section is really slow.

Personaly I dont like the "fooling" aftermarket mafs. That and load issues, still not 100% tuned correctly, possible drivability issues (from load issues), and if you ever do get the eec tuned for the combo things can get wierd. Like maf "cald" for 24/30/36/42 and you run a diff. inj. later or you are trying to get the inj. totaly dialed in and have to deal with the "offset fool-ery".

I would rank mafs in this order

Factory- all, even mod mafs can be had to work on our cars and are cheap.

SCT mafs

Pro-M or whatever- again I dont like the fooling mafs but these are the best it seems.

C&L- I just wouldnt run one in a 94-95, a fox prob. but its a diff. animal.

I believe your supposed to tell them what model the maf is for apon ordering. With the C&L you can get a diff. sample tube (how they fool the eec). They list the tubes by color and have it broken down by GT or Cobra. Pro-m offsets the signal from the maf to make the eec think its seeing more or less air and really needs to be ordered correctly for GT and Cobra each.

When talking about ProM/PMAS ............

You want to be sure and tell them it is for a Cobra.

They build the maf based around the stock pcm programming and they very well know a Cobra has 24lb inj's.

As for the caled maf thing ..........

There comes a point where you really don't have a choice if you flow more air than a particular maf can support. You just gotta go to one that can deal with more flow.

Like Greg, I'd rather load in the real values of the maf & inj's used.

But hey, if you can't talk to the pcm

Cheat Mode is how its gonna be :D
