some track pointers please

short belt bypasses the non needed accessories... Usually just over the crank and alternator (just touching the water pump) and skipping the smog, AC and power steering. As far as part number, it depends on what pulleys you have. Head to the parts store and buy a few, try them in the lot and return the ones that dont work, thats what we did!

You could bypass for that a little, but your going to be fighting the car in the pits and return road, and have to drain some fluid and refill it before you hook the pump back up. I personally leave mine attached but some people shortbelt them!

I've actually driven my car about 3/4 of a mile without a belt at all, so any time i've done the belt thing at the track i just yank the whole thing off and then put it back on after the pass. I've pulled the belt off while i'm next in line in the stages and then stuck it back on after i get my ticket.

You can do that also, but its worth about a tenth and personally I dont do it (unless theres a race I can win with that added tenth). For a beginner dont worry about it...

for the seasoned guy looking to get that ellusive 12.99 on a cold day, sure throw it on the ground for a pass!
