someone got a smokin deal

it does seem to have functional ash tray door, that's worth a grand right there. I 'd pay 3 for it and be happy, not sure if its worth much more than that though.

You're either blind or you got some pretty high standards :rolleyes: . I wouldn't exactly call the seats "shot" and the engine bay isn't that dirty. You must not know **** about the value of notches either because that has to be worth atleast 5-6k.
Blind??? The only thing that notch has going for it is a clean straight body. And as for the seats being shot the drivers seat a a big friggen tear in it. If you think that car is worth 5-6k your a moron. That is a 3k car tops like i stated before. My 87 Gt was in 5x better shape than that with less mileage and i picked it up for 3400.. Hell for 3k i can pick up a 4 banger pristine notch and swap it over to 5.0 standardrs correctly.

*The transmission is slipping in 3rd and 4th gears. Will probably need a rebuild or rebuilt trans. The A/C seems like it needs charging. The compressor cycles and feels slightly colder when on but does not cool like it should. The temperature gauge also doesn't work.*

And its an auto..

First of all, a tear in the driver's seat isn't going to drop the value down by 2k. If you're that picky you might as well shop for a new car. I would be more concerned about rust and the engine.

Second, you can't compare you car to it because a) It is 6 years older (regardless of mileage) and b) It is a GT which is worth MUCH LESS than a Notch. Original 5.0 Notches are very rare (especially in that condition) and they go for 5-6K. Third, a 4 banger notch converted to a 5.0 isn't worth crap because it is not ORIGINAL. I didn't know about the transmission so I think 4-4.5k would be a good price for it.

If your 87 GT was in 5x better condition it must be brand new :rolleyes: because that notch is in pretty good condition for it's age.
My ass thats a 4500 car. I see a lot of cleaner notches around for less that that with no rust. You can also not judge the value of a car without driving it of couse. But how about the bad tranny IMO that drops the price of the car a decent amount. And Obiously it has a wiring problem of some roet since the temp guage isnt working. You probabbly diddnt look at the bigger pictures of the engine and see the fluids all over the power steering bottle, Brake fluid resivor and under the valve covers. 3-3500 tops is what its worth notch or not. Its Probabbly 193000 miles as well not 93k.. Seeing that you own a vette i can see why you think something is worth more than it really is.

You must have not looked at many 5.0's. When I was in the market for a 5.0 99% of the ones I looked at were beaten to **** and not worth all the effort of restoring. I'm not saying that the notch doesn't need work, i'm just saying that it is in MUCH better condition and only needs a few things to get it nice. All of the problems that you mentioned are COMMON for this car. Incase you did'nt notice alot of people (mostly male teenagers) drive the hell out of these cars. If you are looking to spend 3-3.5k on a stang you WILL see these problems and you WONT get a pristine car. The mileage may very well be 193,000 but I am going by what the ad said and not making any assumptions.

BTW I got my vette for 2k and it runs and drives great. However, the seats are torn so I guess 2k is too much for it :rolleyes: .
Ive probabbly looked at over 60 5.0's ive owned 4 so i think i know what im looking for and how much a car is worth for the shape its in. 2k for a vette is a hell of a deal. When i bought my last one it was an 89 notch the thing had a 331 a tremec and sweet white paint. The interior was clean as hell and i paid 1700 because somebody took the wiring harness for the computer out. I got a new harness and got the car running and then turned and sold it for 4k. I know what the cars are worth. Maybe its hard to find a clean 5.0 in your area cheap notch or hatch but where im from i see them alot.

If you changed the transmission and put some tires on it- it would probably bring $4000-$5500.

Given the tranny problem and need for tires and the fact that it's an automatic I'd only give $3000 for it personally.

Tires = $400
Tranny = $1500

High mileage, shot auto, torn driver's seat, disgusting engine bay, disgusting color, needs tires. Also, it's a '93, so no forged pistons. I probably wouldn't give them $3k for that car. Only thing it has going for it is that it's a notch with a good body.

If I remember correctly the only reason why you got your car so cheap is because it didn't belong to the seller and she didn't know anything about cars. :shrug: So you basically lucked out on that deal. The same thing happened to me with the vette; the guy didn't know what he had and just wanted it out of his garage. FWIW I wouldn't pay 5 or even 3K for the notch. I'd rather wait and find one for a much better deal.
The notch was a once in a lifetime deal but the gt before it wasnt. The Gt was amazing and the guy just needed it gone.
