they have an actual connector tube sold at autozone i believe the size is 5/8 < 3/4 or somewhere in that area but it is a 2 size connector

Check your passenger side floorboard for leaks as well. When it starts leaking out that drain in the engine bay a lot of times it will leak into the ineteior and stain the hell out of your carpet. Coolant stains will not come out either. I speak from experience. Also, I have my heater core bypassed right now. I'll snap a pic tonight if you want so you can see what it looks like.
